HR reached out and scheduled the interview with one person. The interview started on time. Nothing out of the usual with the interview: the usual background review and questions came up. There were no questions that were difficult or weren't given appropriate response. The interviewer also seemed happy with all the responses and had no hints of displeasure at any point. I was confident of a second interview given how it went but everyone ghosted afterwards. I received a standard rejection email without any feedback a few days later. Disappointing way to treat hopeful applicants but it seems to be a norm in the USA.
