After completing the online application, I received an email 9 minutes later asking me to choose a time for an interview. At the interview, the receptionist was very polite (maybe overly polite). The interviewer (Merchandise Team Manager) stated at the outset that she had a laid-back interview style. She read off many of the questions listed on her form, but ad-libbed a bit. After many of my responses, the interviewer stated that they were good responses. She also said that she liked that I came prepared with questions to ask her. She said I'd hear about the hiring decision later that day but I heard 8 days later. I sent her a follow-up thank you email the same day as the interview and never heard back until receiving a basic rejection email stating that they appreciated my interested but they didn't have a position equivalent to my job expertise. It said they found my credentials and employment experience strong and would like to consider me for future opportunities, etc. etc. I have minimal retail experience but a lot of education. I'm guessing experience trumps education in this case.
