My interview experience with McCarthy was a tale of two halves. The first stage was excellent—two down-to-earth interviewers who genuinely sold the company, its culture, and benefits. I left that stage feeling optimistic and interested. However, the second stage was a complete shambles. The work task assigned felt excessive for someone with over 15 years in recruitment, particularly within blue-chip organizations, but I went along with it. The feedback on this task came from someone who had only been with McCarthy for a few weeks and had no prior recruitment experience, which made the critique feel irrelevant and unqualified. After that, I was left sitting alone in a room for 20 minutes before the main boss finally decided to join. Their attitude was rude and abrupt, and they asked inappropriate personal questions regarding my age and family plans. The whole process felt outdated and unprofessional, reminiscent of recruitment industry practices from over a decade ago. To top it off, their expectation of 8 AM to 7 PM office hours, five days a week, is completely out of touch with modern work-life balance standards. I would strongly advise against pursuing opportunities with this company.
