After an online aptitude test and a one hour online maths test (probability and stats-heavy) I had an online interview, which I was told was a technical interview but was clearly more a vibes-based interview. The interviewer was bored and disengaged, and was also late. Asked me to tell me about myself, then about my research (I am a former academic), and then why I want to work at a hedge fund given I don't have a background in finance. Then, I was given a simple stocks scenario and asked a couple of simple questions, which I thought I did well on but it turns out I didn't! That was it – I was then asked if I had any questions. I was then informed a few days later that they wouldn't be progressing with me.
