New Horizons hires by hosting a "Hiring Seminar" or casting call where candidates learn about the good and the bad about working for the company. The process is very open and honest, at times maybe too honest about the negatives of the jobs almost discouraging candidates from going forward in the process. Many candidates will leave at this point. Management entices candidates with unlimited earning potential ranging from $40K to $100K even bragging about their own salaries. Those still interested are required to give a brief 3-5 minute presentation on an easy subject matter, like making a meal. Interviewers are seeking the ability to keep an audience's attention, energy, passion, people-skills, etc. Successful candidates must complete an application and submit their resume. A 5-10 minute "Test Teach" is then set-up where the candidate must deliver a software or technical training in front of other Trainers, management, and sometimes the Owner of the company. The candidate usually decides on the material for the test teach. During the "Test Teach," difficult questions will be asked of the candidate. A successful "Test Teach" meeting can last up to 60 minutes and usually takes 2-4 weeks from the "Hiring Seminar" to be scheduled. Other Trainers have been through the same process so typically add a little humor and fun to the otherwise stressful and intimidating "Test Teach." Trainers will provide critique of your "Test Teach" to management, but if you can get with a Trainer or ask to interview a Trainer about the position, you will be happy to have done so. A successful "Test Teach" will lead to a series of one on one interviews with management and the Owner of the company. The Sales Manager is intimidating and will ask difficult questions. The Owner is also a stickler on appearance. Employees are to be clean cut, groomed properly, in full business attire, and dressed modestly without piercings or tattoos. Look your best! The Owner is friendly, but has not hired individuals based on appearance. If you interview is a success, you will be given a tour of the office and made an offer within two to six weeks. New Horizons Training division has low morale and most Trainers are tired or burnt out. This creates a negative working environment. Trainers often work double shifts, are promised raises without fulfillment, and are forced to play small office politics. The turn over rate is high! On average 1 Trainer is lost per month and the company often operates understaffed. Trainers are placed under extreme pressure to achieve impossible benchmarks, work in a paranoid environment, and are given no time to prep for classes to be delivered.
