I originally took the test and had initial interview about a year ago. I was called and scheduled for 2nd interview in early July 2014. After about a week I received a call from someone who identified herself as a manager. She had the warmth and sincerity of a rock. She said, "based on your interview results, we would like to offer you the job of EW II. Do you accept or decline this offer?" The manager said she had no other details. I accepted the offer. Now almost 4 weeks later, I have heard absolutely nothing. I finally called last week and spoke to the same manager. She said, "you should be receiving a letter" but could not say when. A week, 2 weeks, a month? She didn't know. (And, she didn't care.) Unfortunately, I turned down another job based on their verbal offer. Yesterday, I received another job offer from another company (whew!) Better pay, very good benefits, but a not so good commute. I accepted this job and will start next week. I would have preferred the long term security of the EW II position, but if this is an indication of how LA County treats their employees, it's best that I not work there. The professionalism and personal respect of the private sector has a lot of value.
