I had a very frustrating experience with the interview process at Nomura. Initially, I was put forward for an Operations Oversight role, but despite completing the interview, it took them over two months to get back to me. Eventually, I was informed that the role hadn’t been approved. After that, they put me forward for a Business Reorganisation and Strategy role, and I was told I was the leading candidate. However, once again, they took ages to communicate and eventually said that the role wasn’t approved.
Finally, I was made to interview for a Market Risk Analyst role. I completed the first interview and had the second interview scheduled. However, just before the second interview, they told me that they had given the role to an internal candidate, wasting my time yet again.
What made the experience even worse was the continuous delay of scheduled interviews. Almost every time, interviews were postponed at the last minute because the interviewers were “too busy.” I understand the nature of the work, but having this happen repeatedly shows poor organisation and respect for the candidate’s time.
Throughout this entire process, communication was infrequent and misleading. I was given false hope multiple times, being told that I was the leading candidate, only to have the roles fall through due to a lack of approval. This showed a severe lack of transparency and integrity – ironic, given that integrity is one of Nomura’s core values.
Overall, I felt strung along and disrespected. It was a highly disappointing experience, and I expected much better from an institution like Nomura.
