I applied to a job at OSG on one of the job portals and got a call back the next week itself. The hiring process was very prompt:-
1. Email about resume on job portal - within 1 week after applying
2. Technical skills test - Within 2-3 days of first email exchnage
3. Email exchanges to schedule interview (on phone) - very prompt, within few hours
4. Interview call - within 2 days of email exchanges
5. In person interviews with relevant staff (unit head, HR and higher up on same day) - within 2-3 days of call
6. Follow up - NO FOLLOW UP for almost a month after interview/meetings
All interviews, including on telephone were very detailed, technical and efficient:
1. The HR team's type of questions asked showed insight and good understanding of HR practices.
2. The technical interviews were also on point. And the unit head discussed potential issues, addressing, and positive prospects at the end of the conversation.
3. The interview with the senior management was the most unprofessional. Point one: I was asked for names of other companies where I had applied to jobs. Professionally, I answered without names but about type and size and role but the senior person was quite adamant for specific names. Gauging competition seems to be more important than looking for best for themselves. Point two: I was given a hypothetical scenario that was clearly not part of the job profile (asked about questionnaire design while unit head had already told me that the role will not have any design input and involved going by the book on preset tasks). Point three: To appreciate or not - I was told I would be better suited to a whole other function (sales)!
Since I did not hear back for almost a month, where was the Initial promptness? I emailed them myself to ask about the status since I had gone through 3 rounds and received the reply that the delay was because (paraphrasing) "they were seeing where they can fit me" but "good luck in your future endeavours and wish you luck in other applications" How confusing!
After this, i read reviews on glassdoor and feel the original reviews expressed are absolutely accurate : *Excellent teams and processes on work floor marred by poor upper management*
