Met with manager and top sales performer over a 60 minute interview where they wanted to me to go into detail about my sales experience and sales processes for acquiring new business. The interview was formal in questioning but casual in setting.

Interview process was straight forward but the real saga started after I cleared the interview. During verbal offer HR offered me significant lesser salary than what we discussed before the interview even started. Reason " Change in budget from higher up".. I raised this with the hiring manager and HR personnel but all in vain - I still agreed to it thinking comms are better. However to my surprise - the formal offer came with even lesser salary, which made the offer about 30% lesser than what we agreed to even before starting the interview process and about 15% lesser than the verbal offer. Reason " This is the budget we have got for this role". and if things are changing in the background this is the company's responsibility to keep the candidate updated I found HR personnel pushing blame on the hiring team etc but not taking the responsibility that they have wasted my time, energy, reaching out to my referees etc. In my opinion Optus is the only organization who go out hunting for a talent without having a clear understanding of budget and waste people's time and energy, Or perhaps business have no Integrity and lack in coordination/communication within departments .

An informal meeting with my line manager, then tick box questions with HR. A very light interview process. The time it took to get a contract was very slow due to their internal processes.
