What a mess. Applied for a position and was contacted by talent acquisition to do a phone screen for an alternate position. Scheduled a virtual interview with the hiring manager that was then rescheduled. Virtual interview went very well, a little over a week later talent acquisition contacted to tell me i would then be interviewing with the department manager, about a week later that virtual meeting went very well too and was told id be hearing from them very soon and that i will be “very comfortable” with the offer but as it was the end of their fiscal year it could take a little longer than usual. Fast forward over two weeks later and multiple follow up emails with no response back. I finally get a call with a verbal offer from talent acquisition but was told it could still take a while for the official offer letter to get approved. Waited another couple weeks and still no offer letter. Finally got a call back with an update and asked if the offer was falling through but was told no the job is mine its just getting held up in approvals. Then another couple weeks of waiting i got an apology email letting me know they would not be doing any hiring for this position due to budgetary reasons. They were aware i was in the middle of moving states with my family during this whole process and relying on this offer to come through and kept assuring me to sit tight. Luckily i did not give my current job my two week notice. Very unprofessional and serious lack of communication. Dodged a bullet.
