A consultant got in touch with me via LinkedIn saying that they were very interested in my background and profile as it matched what they were looking for: someone to fill a Product Manager role for one of their clients.
The message was short and concise, and provided a link to Randstad's page where the job description could be read... supposedly.
Instead, the link offered no description, nor job posting... nothing.
The moment the person reached out to me I was actually active on LinkedIn so...
It took me roughly 3 mins to reply to the person, saying that - yes, I was interested, but that the provided link displayed that the job offer was no longer available (I provided a screenshot) and hence offered no information whatsoever about the job.
Hours passed, and no answer...
I visited the person's profile, to trigger the notification I visited their profile and perhaps encourage a response from them... and they in turn visited my own profile, but didn't answer my message.
Days passed, and they... ghosted me.
They've ignored 3 messages:
My initial reply to them noting interest in their offer
A second one after a couple of days stating that I've revisited the link and it's still displaying the same message
A third one, just stating that I imagine there won't be any further communication from them, and...
No.
Answer.
Whatsoever.
Recruiters are getting out of hand with their behaviour - now they ghost people that they themselves contacted? Is this a bad joke?
Why are you wasting people's time?
What is wrong with these recruiters?
I imagine that they have some sort of KPI based on messages sent/people contacted, and are using some system that measures this across multiple platforms - this is the only "logical" explanation I can find for this type of behaviour.
By the way - this person is quite active on LinkedIn, as their activity shows several post likes and interactions done over the time they reached out and then proceeded to ignore me....

Wenig fachliche tiefe, dafür viel Selbstdarstellung. Insgesamt ein angenehmes, aber belangloses Geplänkel. Dauerte zirka 45 Minuten lang. Meine Fragen wurden zufriedenstellend beantwortet. Naja, Personalbranche halt: Malen schöne bunte Unternehmensbilder, aber hinter der Leinwand schaut es anders aus.
