      Colloquio

      I first had a screening interview over video with the executive looking to recruit for this role. I was then invited to complete a use case, and they requested a 10-12 page presentation to discuss with a Relay interviewing panel. The brief stated that they "deliberately made it quite open-ended to give you room to present my best self and how you think. We also look forward to it being a 2-way discussion". They also requested me to send it before the in-person panel, so they would have time to review it. To this day, I still don't know why they wanted this case. When I had the in-person panel with the founders, not only did they not have a look into it ahead of our meeting, but also the session was everything but a two-way discussion: It was just questions on their side and not connected to the task, but about specific topics where they expected me to make heavy assumptions. I was told the meeting went well and that I would hear from them in a couple of days, yet they never could be bothered to follow up, not even with a simple note to say thanks. I committed to delivering a comprehensive use case within a relatively short period. Furthermore, I took a good chunk of time to prepare and present it in person at their offices. It is evident to me that Relay did not value my time or efforts. A response or meaningful communication should have been provided. A lack of it is a red flag for job seekers, as this suggests they don't care about people when they become disposable.
