      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Rema Foods (Englewood Cliffs, NJ) nel mese di mar 2026

      Colloquio

The interview process consisted of two virtual interviews followed by an in-person interview. The first virtual round was with the hiring supervisor and a member of the accounts payable team, and the second was with a member of the human resources team. After those conversations, I was invited onsite to meet with several members of the finance leadership team. For an Accounts Payable Specialist role, the overall interview process felt extensive. Multiple rounds and senior leadership involvement seemed notable given the responsibilities of the position. The earlier interviews were professional and focused on my accounts payable experience. However, the tone changed during the meeting with one of the senior finance leaders. I was questioned extensively about a specific AI invoice-reading system used at a previous company (called Theta, as I later remembered) and about my undergraduate degree, which is not in accounting. That line of questioning caught me off guard given that the job posting listed a high school diploma as the minimum requirement. When I described process improvements I had implemented in previous roles, my responses were met with unexpected smiling and laughter, which made the interaction feel dismissive and uncomfortable. It was not something I had experienced in previous interviews. It was also unusual to have that level of scrutiny from a senior finance leader for an accounts payable position. In my previous roles, executives at that level were not typically involved in interviewing candidates for positions at this level, which made the level of involvement here difficult to understand. Given that the earlier interviews were constructive and aligned with the responsibilities of the role, the tone and direction of the final conversation stood out as noticeably different from the rest of the process. After meeting with everyone, I was asked to complete an Excel assessment. A member of the human resources team ended the test before the allotted time, which made the exercise feel procedural. Overall, the earlier interviews were positive, but the final stage of the process felt misaligned with the level of the role. Experiences like this are sometimes discussed on LinkedIn, where companies appear to be searching for an ideal candidate who may not realistically exist for the position being advertised. It may be worth reassessing the expectations for the role or considering internal promotion where institutional knowledge already exists.
