Applied on LinkedIn and was contacted by a recruiter to schedule a pre-screen phone call. Completed the phone call and was given a timeline of ~2 weeks to expect to hear back regarding next steps. After over 3 weeks had past, I reached back out to the recruiter for an update and was told the hiring manager had selected me for a 1st round interview and that I would be contacted shortly to schedule this call. After another week had past, I reached back out to the recruiter and received a canned response that they would contact me for scheduling the next round. After a few days, I received an automated rejection email from their candidate system. When I contact the recruiter to understand where the miscommunication occurred regarding what she had told me regarding being selected for an interview, I never received a response. I understand that new and better fit candidates may come along late in the process but that's precisely why you should not communicate decisions to candidates until that is finalized. The whole process was slow, unorganized, and unprofessional.
