I received offers to interview from two different locations: a Kay store and a Jared the Galleria of Jewelry. I interviewed with both and subsequently chose Jared.
First, I met with the store manager of Kay. We interviewed in the food court of the mall and the interview went well. Upon returning back to the store, a customer was talking to a sales associate and an assistant manager. After leaving, the assistant manager and the associate began making fun of the gentleman. This left a bad taste in my mouth.
At Jared, I was amazed by the store! I met with the manager, a seasoned vet, who told me the earning potential I could reach and explained why, given my background, Jared was the place for me. After the interview, I left and he said he'd be in touch.
He called a couple of days later and invited me back in to meet with his diamond department manager. Upon arrival, I only met with him. He offered me the job on the spot and told me he'd call me with my pay rate.
A couple more days passed and I got a call letting me know my payrate and the date I would start.

Nothing difficult or unexpected considering I'd worked in sales before. Basic things like:
"Tell me about your biggest sale"
"What is your experience building a client base"
, etc.

One professional interview. I was asked several question and made small talk. The second interview I was asked to start the following week. It is not the same way currently. The hiring process is different but can be just as speedy.

Came to a recruiting event with many different store managers from the district. On rotation for about 30 minutes to an hour. Was not asked any difficult questions and everyone was very friendly.
