      Colloquio per German Sales Executive

      Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 2 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso SiteMinder (Londra, Inghilterra) nel mese di lug 2018

      Last July, I found the job ad on LinkedIn and applied directly on their website for the position. Within a few days, the HR lady from Siteminder got in touch and scheduled a Google Hangout chat with me. The chat was nice and friendly and it all felt very positive which motivated me and the prospect of working at Siteminder excited me further. From the conversation, it felt they would value my German native skills more than my lack of sales and would train me up properly within the first three months. After a few days, I received an automated email saying that I was unsuccessful because I lacked sales experience, which was odd because the HR lady saw my CV (which has no sales experience on there) yet still decided to interview me (so I must have been a good fit). Fast forward to October, I received a LinkedIn request from a recruiter asking me if I was interested in a sales position. As expected her client was Siteminder and they were in desperate need to fill the position with a German-speaking sales exec. I replied that I had already interviewed for the position but was keen on having another conversation as I was still really interested in working for Siteminder. The recruitment lady said she will speak to Siteminder as they were "really keen" to speak to me. Few days later she came back to me saying Siteminder had concerns and openly branded me as a "jobhopper". I said that I was very suprised having given them a second chance to have a conversation for the position and also me showing still interest after all this time should have told them enough about my motivation. Plus if they would have employed me 4 months ago, I would have already driven revenue for them and I know that keeping positions vacant for that long comes with a financial loss for the company. Anyway, she went back to Siteminder and they said no. Fair enough. I thanked her for her efforts and kept the conversation open for further opportunities. Said recruitment lady got in touch with me over Christmas again which was highly inappropriate given the time anyway. She checked in if I was still interested in working for Siteminder (surprise, the position was still open!). I kindly declined and said I've used my time over Christmas to re-evaluate my career and would like to go in a completely different direction, namely pick up on my 6 year marketing career path and specialise in a specific branch, but I appreciated her outreach. She got then very petty and insulted me, accusing me of being a "jobhopper" and "you would have been a complete waste of Siteminders time" and a few other mean accusations which I found completely out of line. I was seriously shocked how a complete stranger had the audacity to judge me without knowing any of my career history or ambitions. I was even more shocked how she felt it ok, given the fact as she operated as a representative of Siteminder, to attack a working professional. Anyway, this was sort of the end for me to ever work for that company. It is now July again and I just had another recruiter approaching me on LinkedIn again for the same Siteminder job. I declined and blocked the lady. I personally have lost any motivation to work for Siteminder, given the fact how they treat interested candidates and seem to find it ok to pick up petty arguments through their unprofessional recruitment agencies. As I've said, I was motivated before Christmas to have a second conversation and happy to pick it up again, but the fact that they blatantly called me out has left a very sour taste. Further, it is always a big red flag when positions are vacant for ages and haven't been filled, so maybe it's a reflection on the company rather than the candidates. An employer who treats candidates like that during the interview process will not behave differently when you actually work there, so no Thank You but I don't want to work in an unprofessional and disrespectful working environment.

      The usual boring questions all about the company and barely anything what my ambitions are: why do you want to work for siteminder? what do you know about siteminder? what are our 6 products? Do you know where Siteminder is based?

The feedback terminology is not language that the SiteMinder team would use and I apologise on how your feedback was presented to you by the agency.
