Applied for the Tech Lead, Android Core Product position in Kyiv.
Stage 1 — Coding test: A 90-minute take-home in a forked Now in Android codebase, hosted on a real GitHub repo under speechify-recruiting. Bookmark management feature, AI tools allowed, access auto-revoked after time was up. Other candidates have written about this publicly — it's their standard pipeline. That part was genuinely well done... except for the camera and fullscreen recording that's for sure going to get analyzed for anything "useful" to them.
Stage 2 — "Informational call": Billed as 30 minutes with a recruiter. Partway through, a second person joined and introduced himself as "an engineer who works in recruitment." He asked for two things:
First, read access to my private (!) GitHub repos to review non-public code. Second, software installed on my personal machine (!!!) to capture every prompt I send to AI tools — framed as a way to evaluate my "prompt-writing skills."
I said no to both, stayed polite, and the call wrapped up shortly after.
This is an extraordinary privacy overreach that honestly is unheard of. I strongly recommend everyone to avoid this company at all costs.
