Colloquio
The interview process at TCS for a designer role involved two key stages, both of which were structured yet highly engaging, with a focus on understanding both creative thinking and real-world design application for client-facing projects.
Stage 1: Portfolio Review + Design Aptitude
This round revolved around presenting my design portfolio. The panel, which consisted of senior designers and project leads, encouraged me to walk them through selected projects. They were keen to understand:
My design thinking process.
Problem-solving approach.
Tools and technologies I used.
How I incorporated user feedback and client requirements into my design iterations.
Interaction:
This round felt more like a conversation than an interview. They asked thoughtful questions and even gave hypothetical client problems to understand how I would approach them. They appreciated storytelling around design journeys and were genuinely interested in the rationale behind my choices.
Stage 2: HR + Client-Centric Scenario Questions
The second round was a mix of HR and behavioral questions with a focus on client interactions. The interviewer assessed my:
Communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage feedback and timelines.
Adaptability in dynamic, client-driven environments.
Passion for design and continuous learning.
Interaction:
Again, the vibe was warm and open. They shared real client scenarios and asked how I’d handle them. I felt they were not just evaluating me, but also making sure I would be a good cultural and professional fit for TCS’s collaborative ecosystem.
Domande di colloquio [1]
Domanda 1
One memorable question they asked me was:
“If a client is not satisfied with your design and wants something completely different—which you feel goes against good UX principles—how would you handle the situation?”
It stood out because it wasn’t just about design skills—it was about real-world problem-solving, communication, and professionalism. They wanted to see how I balance client expectations with user needs and design integrity.
It turned into a really interesting discussion about stakeholder management, the importance of empathy, and educating clients without sounding dismissive. Definitely one of the best parts of the interview!

Not very good experience there, my interviewer came late, then in shortage of time started asking question with any discussion. And just to wrap up the interview quickly asked 3 question and told me i am not fir for the job

There was only one interview round that combined technical, managerial, and HR discussions. The interview covered technical concepts, project experience, problem-solving, teamwork, career goals, and general HR questions in a smooth, well-organized process.

It was easy, Interviewer just asked me basic question on CS fundamentals, no DSA questions were asked. Interviewer was friendly and understanding, only one interview was held. Just be confident in what you answer.
