The recruiter reached out to me to schedule an “interview”. After a few nights of mental preparation (studying company/position/what this company does) I finally receive a call for the “interview” just for the recruiter to tell me “we’ve decided to pursue different candidates”, before ever getting to ask me any questions or getting to know my credentials. Completely inconsiderate of peoples time, hopes, and energy. I was completely deflated. This news could have been presented via email and calling it an “interview” was outright RUDE.

Played some phone tag to finally coordinate an initial phone screen time. Eventually had the initial short phone screen, then had a phone conversation with the Director of the department. Both people I talked to were very friendly and professional. I misunderstood one of the questions, which led me to answer incorrectly. I'm confident this contributed to not moving on with the process.

It was a pretty standard process: Application>>phone screen>>phone interview>>final round panel interview Unfortunately, the process ended at the final interview as I was never contacted again or given any feedback on my application status even after I followed up with them.
