I applied for the job in Dec 2013. I didn't hear anything back so I assumed I was out of the running. I then got a phone call in early April to setup a phone interview. I had the phone interview the following week after the initial call. Another week or so later I was informed that they would like to bring me in for a face to face interview.
I setup the face to face interview for the last week of May as that was as soon as both myself and they interviewer could meet. I traveled down to Olathe for the interview which began about 9 AM and lasted until about 12:30 PM. During the interview I was given a tour of the facility in Olathe and had the change to meet with other Support Specialists already working for TopCon. Everyone was personable and forthcoming about how they enjoyed working there.
My potential direct supervisor and I took about 30-40 minutes to discuss the position and my qualifications. Following that we met with the mid-level manager above him so he could get a feel for what kind of person I was and if I would be a good fit for the organization. That conversation was easy going though professionalism was maintained.
After that was complete I was taken out to dinner by my main interviewer and the other support specialists at a steakhouse nearby. The dinner conversation was comfortable and enjoyable. Following the meal I bid farewell to my main interviewer and indicated that I hoped to hear from them soon. He replied by saying he would talk to his manager and they would get back to me either yet that day or the next day.
A week went by and I heard nothing so I called my interviewer and asked him if there was anything out of order that I could help resolve to keep the process in motion. He told me that he had been quite sick the last week and had to seek medical attention so he would need another two weeks before he could get back to me.
Two weeks go by and nothing happens. I wait until Friday of that week, four days after I was supposed to receive an answer, and I give him a call at his office and leave a voicemail with a similar message asking if there was anything I could do to help things along or if I was no longer in consideration for the job. Haven't heard anything since.
