I was brought to Tulane on a visit after extensive communication with my future advisor. I met multiple students and faculty during my visit. Also, I was taken to some cultural activities during my stay. Went very well overall.

It was two rounds or so. Not that difficult asked me a couple of questions regarding field and my background. Why I wanted to do a PhD etc. What would you be interested in doing? Would you enjoy working on x projects?

I submitted my application online. Then I followed up by calling the chair of the department several times. Then I got an offer to come to the university to visit the department and faculty. During my visit, I made contact with one specific professor who wanted me to join his lab and it was through his contact that I was made an official offer later, which I accepted.
