Application entry and communication for tests required are all performed online and with emails. Takes weeks and even months after initial application acceptance. Once everything is accepted and passed you are then selected for interview (the first time physically talking to a USPS employee). The interview is a process of basic questions with or without the hiring manager for your office (postmaster). You are then fingerprinted. Then after another week or so you are either offered the job or denied. You have to accept the job offer and wait for another email with a date and time you start orientation. You are not given an abundant amount of time to quit a current employer, so make sure they are aware of your situation to change careers and may or may not be giving a short notice (only if your current employer is willing to work with you)
