      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Unilever (Dublino, Dublino) nel mese di nov 2017

      Colloquio

Started off with filling out an application online and uploading your CV. If you get past that you're invited to complete psychometric testing, which is done via 12 games. Getting through this seems to be based off an algorithm and was really strange and very unfair. You're given 7 days from receiving the email to complete the games. Following on from this if you get through you're invited to complete a digital interview. You're given 7 days to complete this from when you received the email. The digital interview was very difficult. You're given 3 hypothetical situations with questions on them, where a video explains the situation and asks the questions (it's written down too). You have two minutes to prepare, and then 3 minutes to answer. You can attempt your answer 3 times if you're not happy with how it went, but you can't select the recording you thought was best so if you record it 3 times you have to submit the last one. Then you're given a case study with 10 minutes to prepare and 5 minutes to answer. There are 2 retry attempts for this. You receive feedback on your submission via email shortly after submitting so it appears to be some sort of algorithm or software looking for buzzwords and making sure you maintain eye contact because otherwise there's no way they could provide feedback so fast. Hypothetical situation 1: You're asked to help take on a "zero waste to landfill" initiative but people are concerned over the time commitment involved. The questions ask how you will build relationships with people outside your team and function, how you will persuade people to be committed to this project, how you will engage senior management who are concerned over the time commitment... This question is largely to do with sustainability so show you've researched Unilever's sustainability values and show you can demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills. Hypothetical situation 2: You've been given a new project to promote on top of your other duties. The questions were to do with time management and how you will prioritize everything. They asked how you will use technology to help you meet deadlines and use time management and deliver results on time. This question is to show your time management and prioritization skills and what methods you can use to deliver results. Hypothetical situation 3: There's a new legal requirement saying detergents myst have a "corrosive" label on them unless you prove it's not harmful by testing on animals. Unilever is committed to eliminating testing on animals. What business decisions do need to take into account? What should/would you do? Should you deal with the label or test on animals. Who internally and externally to Unilever would you want to speak to in this situation. How would you communicate your strategy to consumers? I think this question is to show you've researched Unilever's ethics and standards. The case study was on the French detergent Skip which is known as Persil elsewhere. It asked about digital marketing strategies to try and increase people (women aged 30-45) buying laundry detergent online, and impulse buying. You watch a video and there's a pdf document of further information. The questions ask you to consider what social channels you would use, what your campaign would be like, how would you ensure you meet consumer needs with your digital strategy, how could Unilever trigger impulse sales of detergent online. Overall it was really difficult. The feedback email I got said it was being assessed on Judgement (big picture thinking, analyzing information and making decisions, thinking innovatively and being positive about change), Drive (having the motivation to succeed, working to accelerate business growth, being obsessed with consumer needs and improving brands and consumer experience), and Influence (communicating effectively, learning from mistakes and inspiring others). I don't know yet if I've gotten through to the assessment centre discovery day stage yet (I completed this interview last night). The feedback I received via email was useful as it tells you how to improve, but also anyone would do much better if it was a face-to-face situation and not algorithmically based. I'd also advise to check your spam folder if you're waiting on information from Unilever as every email so far that I've received from them has gone in there.
