In Explicit proxy browser is aware of Proxy, while in transparent Proxy browser is not aware of the Proxy in path. In explicit proxy setup is done in browser using proxy IP or WPAD or PAC file. In transparent Proxy we can have 2 types of transparency: in line physically or virtually in line (using WCCP or PBR)
