Was contacted by recruiter. It was a smooth process but the quiz was quite hard. This was done doing webcam and screen sharing as this was during covid times.
Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto 4 settimane. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Woolworths Group (Sydney) nel mese di feb 2021
Colloquio
I applied for the position of Data Scientist through a recruiter. Initially the name of the company was not disclosed, then found out it was WooliesX. I took a test with the recruiter which consisted of a ML+Probability and Statistics section and a coding part. The ML questions focused on general ML algorithms and Ensemble Tree models. The coding part was quite hard, but should be easy for a recent grad who studied Algorithms recently (dynamic programming, sorting/queues, primes). One problem with this test is that it wasn't administered through an online platform like Hackerrank or similar, but you had to code your answers on your laptop and send the files at the end of the test, which I think is not the best practice for testability and reproducibility (you need to design your own tests, type of environment/version/libraries are not specified etc).
This test was followed by a technical interview which focused on prior experience, ML, software engineering practices, SQL, git
Second interview was with the head of Data Science, with questions both technical and cultural/behavioural.
Both interviewers were very pleasant and asked questions that tested your understanding of things, rather than simple mnemonic exercises.
The recruiter also did a very good job throughout the process.
The team leader first contacted me about my notice time and expecting salary. Then, there was a third party company being in charge of running a technical test online. I took the test the next day. It took about 2 hours.
Domande di colloquio [1]
Domanda 1
The test includes two parts, python coding and ML knowledge.
