I enjoyed meeting with the managers and other leaders. The discussions were very open and candid. However after two interviews in DC (I applied for the DC location), I was asked to go to their Philly office and HQ to meet additional managers. I was shocked when the company did not offer to reimburse me for mileage or parking. I took a day off of work to attend this meeting and feel I should have at least been reimbursed for expenses. However, the real disappointment came from my meeting with a partner in Philly. She treated me like a first grader and cross examined me on my resume as if I was on trial. She actually quizzed me on accounting "homework" "assigned" on a previous interview. I withdrew from consideration because I worried that if I was treated like that on an interview, I would likely be treated similarly as an employee. Oh yeah, she also looked over my shoulder while asking me to execute spreadsheet commands in Excel. I also thought that it was unusual that they called my references and performed background checks before I even completed interviewing. There are many employee testimonials on their web site and eveyone I spoke to said that they thought that YPTC was the best job that they ever had. Staff do receive a 4K bonus for "recruiting" full time associates so there's an incentive to hype the work culture and interview for awards like "Best Places to Work". After digging a little deeper however I did learn that there is significant turnover at the associate level. I guess those staff weren't interviewed for the awards.
