Due to COVID, things were a bit different than a normal interview process. Keep that in mind. I submitted my application and resume and got an email for a telephonic phone screening with a Zieders "Talent Recruitment Specialist" from the corporate office. It was a 30 minute one-on-one phone interview. The interviewer was very nice and incredibly understanding when I had phone issues that prevented our phone interview from starting on time. It went smoothly, and she mostly asked questions regarding my experience with military families as well as teaching/instructing. She informed me I'd be hearing from someone within the next week about whether I was moving on to the next stage or not. True to her word, I was contacted within the next week and a phone interview with my potential boss and another manager was scheduled very quickly. To prepare for this interview, I was asked to prepare and present a short PowerPoint presentation. This interview was an hour, and again, it was all over the phone. The questions were very situational, mostly in the format of "Describe a time where you had to deal with _________" basically to gauge my relevant experiences. It was straight-forward, no trick questions. I presented the PowerPoint at the end. After this interview, I was told I would be contacted within the next couple weeks about the next steps. Once again, they were prompt and I received an email asking me to fill out information for a background check. A few days after that, I received an email wishing to schedule a site visit with the staff of the work site. Due to recent travel, I was unable to physically visit the site for at least another week, but they were very accommodating and opted for a "virtual site visit" over the phone. It was not an interview, but a chance for the site and direct supervisor to get to know me. They asked me what I knew about the site and its various programs, how I handle certain situations, what I understood appropriate work attire to be, and the like. Several days after this site visit, I was offered the position.

Preliminary interview with HR and then virtual interview. Two people interviewed me including the potential supervisor. Interview questions were fair and I was able to answer them all with some thought. Interviewers also clarified and answered any questions I had. The interviewers gave me very positive feedback throughout the interview, like “great answer” and “it sounds like your values really align with our company” but then I didn’t get the job. I wish they had remained more neutral rather than giving me false hope in their feedback during the interview.
