I was contacted by a recruiter to interview for a graduate recruiter role, initially I was hesitant about entering in to their recruitment process as this would be my second time interviewing for a similar role and my first experience wasn’t great.
After persuasion from the recruiter I decided to go for it and was just as disappointed the second time around. Although I had a different interviewer and the interviews were over a year apart they were mirror images of each other. Both were typical HR competency interviews, one question after the other... can you tell me about a time when you did x and y. No attempts to get to know you, completely scripted with a matrix and clip board with the interviewer ticking boxes as you go along, the kind of interview you cannot wait to get out of.
On both occasions no feedback was offered even after chasing the recruiter several times, they didn’t even let me know I hadn’t got it, I just had to make an assumption. There is no introduction to BP team and what the culture is like, although they did try to say the team was “fun” something they struggled to translate in person.
After two bad experiences BP is definitely off my list of future employers.
