This is an interesting and somewhat weird interview. Let me explain.
Had the interview with the hiring manager and everything was going well. We were both interviewing each other and making sure it's the right fit. Asked engaging questions about the company and the role and we even talked about our friends in the industry. Everything was flowing nicely and no awkwardness or silent moment.
After a little over an hour we wrapped it up and the HM gave me his cell phone number and told me "I'll introduce you to the office manager next week..." That sounds promising right? Nope! Next week came and I sent and quick follow up email and nothing. Next day sent a follow up text for an update and same thing. Silent. Next day I get a text telling me they went on a different direction. I was completely confused, baffled and disheartened. How did the HM go from giving me their cell number and telling me he'll be introducing me to the office mgr to going on a different direction? Then almost a month a half later I get the official rejection email telling me they went with a different candidate. Talk about false hope.
You'd think having over two decades of sales and account management experience is a good start but I guess not.
