Vantaggi
-Great pay! For an entry level job like Store Associate at Aldi, you can't find much better! My starting wage was 14/hr, a 2 dollar raise from my previous (union!) job. -Variable work environment: Once you get a few months in, you can expect to be doing several different tasks throughout the work day, which keeps the job from being mind-numbing. -Good hardworking management: I've never had problems with management at Aldi. They pull their weight, are respectful to employees, and care enough to properly train you. -Excellent benefits: As a college student, I was surprised how generous Aldi is with their benefit packages. I have the ability to get medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 401k program. -Physical Job: I see a lot of people putting this as a negative, but basically, you get paid to exercise and be on your feet, which keeps the otherwise bland work worthwhile. -Flexible scheduling: This is a HUGE one for me since I'm in school, my store manager is incredibly accommodating of my school schedule and ensures I am only scheduled when I'm able to work.
Svantaggi
-Not a dream job: Working at Aldi will NOT exercise your brain, if you are looking for a career in retail and desire to work with customers, this may not be the job for you. Expertise of employees is not necessary, and 99/100 questions you will receive from customers will be either "where is this item?" or "are you out of this item?" not exactly making you feel like you are using your mental faculties. -Non-social environment: At Aldi, you basically do the work of 3 comparable grocery store employees (which honestly is surprisingly not that difficult) but you sacrifice basically any social time with co-workers. Expect to work alone 90 percent of the time, and even though you might enjoy your co-workers, there are not a lot of co-operational tasks. -Not much room to advance within company: You need a college degree to advance to anything beyond store manager. I'm well on my way to getting my degree, but just something to know that it is a requirement for advancement. They do hire internally if you have one though, and if you are a hard worker that will help you.
