My team were so up themselves and would regularly show off in front of one-another with conduct I considered petty and underhand. Behaviour I felt alluded to bullying and slander (traits that would ordinarily be escalated to a tribunal in many workplaces) appear to be rife and seen as the norm at AMV BBDO; these qualities were just a few of things I experienced from many during my brief stint at the London advertising firm. If your face doesn’t fit your cliquey colleagues will make sure you know you know about it. I have never felt so singled out and violated since being in school but thankfully it made me appreciate my current workplace. What I thought would be an exciting insight into the world of advertising and creative excellence turned out to be a sad and stark reminder that in this day and age diversity and inclusion isn’t something that is embedded into the ethos of every workplace.
