I actually feel respected - Recensione dipendente - Director of Content presso Abound

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's feeling like my soul is being crushed. And in my opinion, 98.75% of jobs out there make you feel like your soul is being crushed. Somehow, mostly through the CEO's vision imo, this is not one of those jobs. The thing about Abound is that they do a really good job of hiring people they can trust on day 1, and then trusting them on day 1. I'm like the double slit experiment, where the more someone is watching over my shoulder, micromanaging me, the less work I'll do. Or rather I'll do the same amount of work but I won't really try that hard because I resent the implication that I'm not competent on my own. Even when I was new and unproven, Abound showed me a great deal of good will by assuming I would be a hard working, competent employee who could be trusted. I had personally never experienced that in a job before and it bought me a lot of good will with them. Oh yeah and they paid enough. Niceness only takes you so far, a job also has to give you the chance to save money and buy the stuff you want. Abound actually likes to hear my ideas, which makes me want to write down my ideas and present them. In previous jobs, I sat on my perch and silently rolled my eyes when decisions were being made that I thought were bad. At Abound, I know no one is a psychopath who's just waiting to scream at you because their scared inner child can't handle hearing ideas they didn't come up with. Sure, this is a random Glassdoor review by a current employee, can it be trusted? That's up to you. But there's really no reason for me to put effort into a Glassdoor review unless this stuff was true, if I didn't actually think this was a great place to work I'd have thrown some platitudes in here and been on my way.
