I'm sorry your experience at Accelion didn't meet your expectations. Salary, commissions, bonuses, benefits, travel reimbursement, geographic territory and job requirements are all disclosed in writing to anyone prior to starting a position with us. If they didn't meet your expectations, you should not have accepted the job.
The Territory Manager role is an entry-level outside sales job; we make this very clear during the interview process. We try our best to hire individuals with an appropriate amount of customer facing and sales experience but the majority of our candidates in the current job market are "overqualified". We can't simply ignore market conditions so we often hire folks that are overqualified, and we have had some success getting them to adapt to a more entry-level role than they attained previously. As you stated, the Territory Manager position affords a lot of schedule flexibility and it's not a difficult job once someone gets into a rhythm (typically 30-90 days) so a lot of folks value those job characteristics.
Accelion has grown a lot since Covid (over 130%) which has created a lot of growth opportunities for folks with more experience to advance their career with us; and some of that growth has been to cover markets/territories that are not yet profitable for the company. If you were in one of those territories (~25% of our current footprint), I certainly understand your frustration that your territory required a bit more development but that is a part of the job.
As for your comments about training and management, that is simply not the consensus. Mid-size companies like Accelion face many challenges but we have an advantage of having the owners (myself and my partner) directly involved in the day-to-day business operations and every Accelion employee has a direct relationship with one of us. Our direct numbers and emails are disclosed to every new employee during HR orientation and employees are encouraged to share their feedback with us directly. We get great scores on our employee surveys like GPTW, NPS, and EN for management and leadership and it's clear from other reviews here on GD that people generally respond well to our actions-based structure and no-nonsense style.
