Vantaggi

Attempts to be a feminist social justice-based organization in its research department. Tries to hire social-justice-minded young racialized women. Attempts a model to create a combination of front-line services and research.

Svantaggi

I can't speak to the front-line health services so my review is based on the research department. AAMH is disappointing as it pretends to be social-justice-based organization but it harms BIPOC folks. Management recreates systemic barriers for young racialized staff who are predominately women teams as they do not address inequities in employment structures. Workload outweighs allotted time in contracts, there is an expectation/pressure to complete grantee projects despite being on part-time contracts, staff often work unpaid full-time hours while being on part-time contracts. Senior management supports management that works together to create an unsupportive leadership style which creates confusion of communication, a lack of accountability and mentorship, and ultimately high attrition of staff being let go or leaving.
