The company is a small-size employer; the pluses of that are easy access to management, ability to wear many hats, flexibility, family atmosphere.

Svantaggi

Due to the smaller size of the company, some financial challenges the company has faced as well as difficulties associated with being essentially a start-up.

- Since our current new CEO and his management team took over in mid 2011 and especially the ramp up in 2012 -- outstanding - They do what they say they will do ...even when it means often not doing what for years occurred here which was do the easy thing or [popular thing. Clearly that has upset some people and not all people get anymore what they want but the right decision gets made. - Built a real company now with real solutions and fixed the mess they inherited -payers coming on board and growing - Tough work here which also meant some people got fired (clearly some on this review board) - Building a whole new industry helping to reduce costs and increase quality - From top down it is shown and always stressed to always first and foremost do the right thing even if it means losing money or over spending in areas like IT or clinical programs or cutting items out of what in past we got paid for - All about the client now and exceeding their needs which means staying dynamic - More mature people here now (mostly ) that realize it is all of our responsibility to make things happen not just the senior leaders and the complainers are being pushed out or already fired/gone (only a few more here that will always see things half empty no matter where they are (they only will lo0k for areas to criticize)

Svantaggi

- Hard work (but who said building things would be easy I guess) - Execution culture can be tough (especially those not used to produce real results that matter and not just talk) - This company was a mess before current 2011 onward new changes here. Prior management teams and many of the leaders did not lead us. - Every company has issues regardless of size and industry but many things had to be fixed here that were not done before so that means pushing some people out of the old way of doing things that didn't work (but right thing to do)

The company has a solid foundation. Some of the ideas are great if executed well. They have come up with some great ideas to take the company to a new level. Unfortunately a lot of these ideas require solid execution/delivery from IT which is far from the case.

IT department in its current state is in shambles. They don't have a coherent strategy or a plan to get to a solid/extensible platform. All the aforementioned Pros require an IT platform that is stable from which to create new products and to grow (add more transactions without increasing the cost, add new features). It is quite the opposite. The current VP has increased the cost multi fold without a strategy. And instead of getting value out of this increased cost things are going in the reverse direction. The platform is unstable - multiple outages with the system. No new products are being delivered since there is no clear structure or responsibility chain. There are multiple layers of management and they all step on each other's toes. They are contracting with multiple consulting firms without regards to the output/results. No one does an analysis of how much was spent vs what was delivered. Instead the VP has these phony green/yellow/red light indicators which are useless unless they are measured against an established set of performance indicators - it just seems all arbitrary as to how the indicators are assigned. Also there is no oversight from the top management on all the waste/mismanagement within IT. Either they don't comprehend the issues or are too weak/expedient to do anything about it.
