Working at a charter school is rewarding because while there is a set curriculum teacher have more autonomy to work with students in the ways that they believe best fit sutdents needs. All state accountability with more weight due to the ablity of the Michigan Department of Ed is a lot more stringent so you must work hard with your students.

Pay is lower than traditional education but it is becoming more equal

Unprofessional leadership and departments, cliques, not enough support for teachers with student behavior. Frequent physical altercations between students observed. Low pay and minimal raises. HR requested staff not to discuss or disclose pay with other employees, which is in violation of employee rights.
