Poor management, tenured staff are obliged to train new incoming managers due to their experience. Communication from head office is minimal and inefficient. Limited opportunity for growth within the company. Lack of appreciation for staff in retail. So much of a focus on aesthetic aspects of VM they neglect to manage simple structural necessities such as rostering, communication and management of staff. Easy to get swept away in the branding and justify the lack of organisation.

I worked there for two years, and in December last year I was informed the store would close, which left me with no option but to resign on the same day due to the need to cover my rent. Strangely, the next day the same decision-maker announced that the store would remain open and that a new store manager would be appointed, a plan that has still not materialized after seven months. In the interim, the store has operated with interim managers and a reduced staff, while pay remains low and the culture has deteriorated, leading to ongoing turnover and a perception of practices that are not consistent with fair and respectful treatment of employees.
