Vantaggi

There is definitely a lot of change going on at Alfresco focusing on turning the business into a more traditional Enterprise-class software company. All departments from marketing, sales, product, support, development, operations have made significant changes with new leaders, processes, cleanup and company strategy. With change comes opportunity for those that want to make their contributions and grow their skills. So, if you are hungry and want to make things happen, this is a good place. Not a lot of BS or nay sayers, I see people that want to do "the right thing" are are looking for help. Unlike other businesses, there is a real $6 billion market opportunity that is in transition moving from the old guard to more modern, open software. The maturity and depth of the Alfresco product is well positioned to capture an unfair share of this transition.

Svantaggi

With all the change, not all systems are running smoothly yet (are they ever, anywhere?) so that means there are ups and downs. Some employees that have been around for a while are leaving, which can be both good (new blood, energy, thinking, talent upgrade) and bad (lost institutional knowledge, context.) It is not a pure "start up", which is also good and bad. Alfresco has real customers and revenue, but has some baggage to get through too, which is to be expected. Nothing fundamentally wrong, just a lot of work (see the pros...)

Vantaggi

Flexible schedules in most departments, good benefits, pay consummate with the industry, and most employees are hard-working, honest people who just want to do good work. It basically stops there.

Svantaggi

Where do I even start? The main issue with Alfresco is their "get it done" workplace culture, which in practice ultimately amounts to leadership handing down haphazard decisions and making empty promises to their teams on things they don't know they can deliver, and then the ground-level employees have to make it happen regardless of the level of support, direction, or any other necessary components to get the job done correctly. It's that stereotypical corporate nonsense where the executives spend their time "making decisions" and then never thinking through the consequences of those decisions. I hate to be crass, but it's a complete joke. Across the org, there's also zero accountability for collaboration-- it's usually as simple as someone saying "no thanks," or "that's not my job," which is something I've never encountered elsewhere as being acceptable behavior. C-Levels are generally fine and intelligent people, but it's pretty much guaranteed that under that, you never know what you're dealing with. It's a recipe for disaster, and goes against pretty much any reasonable advice on how to run an intelligent and forward-thinking business.
