Vantaggi
After years working in various union and management positions, and directing operations, I took a step back for a worker bee position, which allowed me to stay put in the same industry for my kids' sake. Operations with my former company had relocated several states away. The pay is decent, but nowhere near what I was earning before. Can make six figures, but you probably won't have 2 days off a week.
Svantaggi
It's repetitive, routine, and often thankless. If there's a service disruption, or operations issue, you're mostly on your own. The mid-level managers leading often have less experience than I do, and don't want my input, so I'm often forced to sit back and watch, while everything burns around me. It's an ok job if you know how to budget and want to pay your bills, but you won't become rich just from working here.
