Vantaggi

Seems to be very family-oriented. I've heard nothing but good things from employees that have lasted at least a year. Owner left a wonderful gift on all of our desks during the holiday season, and it seemed that family was placed first; heard tons of stories of coworkers having to run home to their children because of some emergency, and rather than just saying "Not my problem", they were allowed. So you're definitely dealing with people, not a corporate mask. EXTREMELY nice coworkers. Yearly raises and bonuses.

Svantaggi

I was terminated very suddenly, and with no warnings, despite the almost daily positive feedback I received from my trainer. I was meant to be trained for a total of 6 months as a Graphics Illustrator (a very technical job, involved a bit of math, etc.). I asked every other day about my progress, as I'd been told that they have tried to fill the position a few times and things just didn't work out, so I wanted to keep an open line of communication. Each day, I would be told that I was doing very well, and picking things up quickly. Each day I'd also listen to music or a podcast while I worked. All in all, I began to notice strange behavior from my coworkers. I was on a very tiny team in a small room of only four people (myself included). Two of my team members (one, a trainer) would consistently stop speaking whenever I entered a room. I kept talk small, discussing only light topics (weather, hobbies, etc.), but it seemed that whatever I said wasn't good enough for my trainer and my other team member... if I wasn't taking daytrips to view old English architecture a few towns over, they'd visibly turn their noses to me. Long story short, despite the fact that up until the day before I was terminated that I received positive feedback, I was suddenly called into the HR office (which is only ONE woman. This is a part of the issue, in my eyes). Even though I'd been listening to podcasts and music the entire time I worked at my desk, I was suddenly told that this was why I was getting fired. My trainer then lies and says that he's told me multiple times, when I literally asked my second or third day if this was okay. No camera footage was viewed. No peer reviews. No warnings or slaps on the wrists. Nope! Just fired. I should have taken legal action over it. The interesting thing is that for a year after that, that position was never filled. It would close for a month (the same amount of time I was employed) and open again, over and over and over again for a year. I asked why we couldn't investigate the matter further, and the response received was, "I've worked with _________ for years. ________ wouldn't lie to me, so I don't think I have to look into this." Yes. Because people are totally infallible and never lie or have their own biases. Of course.
