We are tackling a challenging problem to improve aquaculture using computer vision and AI, ultimately contributing to sustainable food production. To do that, it involves serious research and development. We build our own custom undersea camera running some of the most sophisticated AI software. We manage a worldwide device fleet deployed in a physically demanding environment. We use the best of science to turn raw data into useful insight. The R&D team comprises a group of people with research, software and hardware development background. They are very motivated to create the best product for the industry.

Svantaggi

The company has a US based development team and an Europe based product and customer success team. There is a divide that needs constant coordination and communication. Unfortunately, Covid has also greatly curtailed traveling and in person meetings. The scope of the system and product is also quite large and demanding to the small team that builds it.

- Aquabyte were category leaders several years ago, today they are dead last. Missing out on enterprise deals and the inability to set the market ablaze to own market share. Inability of the CEO to make any type of decision besides make up work of a 1000+ scenarios of what ifs - Harassment common in the work place. At least 6 people left due to a higher up harassing multiple people through comments on physical features, abusive language, and lying on performance reports to show specific people are the problem. Yes, he even harassed multiple people not on his team - No more VC funding bound as the tap has dried up - Rounds of layoffs again - Raises were given to people making the least at the company, with a standard 2% raise. No increase of equity for any of the boots on the ground, doesn't matter since they are on their way out. They will low ball you with an offer - Complete disconnect on vision of the company and unity of teams from the US vs Norway office being a constant theme - I think every person has a title of a manager at the company yet 90% of these titles do not manage anyone
