Each work day starts off with a fear of job cuts. There is no stability. Most employees are older, holding out for retirement – although that may be self delusional. Younger talent, if hired, leaves quickly or has been laid off. Creativity is stifled because of fears of possible mistakes and loss of employment or drained away because of day-long babysitting of offshore workers. (On any given day a large number within a workgroup is fired, replaced by unknowns offshore, with the two or three left in the workgroup responsible for training, finishing off assignments and hand holding, and then they are fired too.) There have been no raises for a number of years with the added insult of furloughs to reduce salary even more. Middle management seems to be only sitting on their hands, again fear of job loss the likely cause, so there is little leadership or direction provided. Of course a job is a job but if you are looking for creative career then is it is best to continue down the road and not waste your time with Avaya.
