Vantaggi

There are some really good people here. I met a lot of friends here, most of which I still associate with today.

Svantaggi

You come into a company that can name drop big name clients and has some nice visibility out there for the type of work they do. It all seems perfect on the surface. Their M.O. is hiring people young, some right of college and promising the world to you. The company culture is work hard play hard (which every company uses now-really just means work harder and harder and harder). It's really a front for how poorly they not only pay you, but how poorly they treat the real lifeblood employees who do a ton of the work. The sales support staff is watched and micromanaged to an almost breaking point. I'm amazed many of them stick it out as long as they do. They gave the support staff laptops-again just a way to get them to work from home after their shift. I know many with families who'd consistently work all day and late through the night at home because they're overloaded with no help from management on work load. I watched managers treat people in sales support horribly. There have been managers openly speak negative about current employees to the group at staff meetings. Tigger is the company mascot, they say because of his positive go getter attitude. I tend to believe its the mascot because they want everyone to work faster and faster and have a positive attitude even though career potential is bleak. Senior management at BDA is not ideal either. They walk around and talk a big game, but they do very little for their people. They make big salaries and drive fancy cars and get to attend sporting events w clients and the events that the sales staff really drives and has a difference in making successful. There's very little sincere appreciation and gratitude given. The "bonus" structure is not a bonus believe me. It's very hard to attain and based on circumstances beyond most people's control. Really sad to see people work so hard w no rewards other than free alcohol at every event and breathalyzer tests that don't work too well. The CEO is truly a nice guy and does remember people's names and makes an effort, I must say. But he has to be the one to drive the culture back to a place of positivity and give employees more than big extravagant parties at sales meetings and booze at every event. Practice what you preach to your clients. I would not recommend working at BDA. People lie here (a lot) and the pay does not even remotely reflect the work that you're asked to do. A good amount of the really strong employees are leaving in bunches.....that says a lot. Rumors are rampant...if you speak to someone of the opposite sex at work, there will likely be a rumor about a relationship with that person within a day. HR does not actively work to better the environment either.

Vantaggi

- Decent base salary if this is your first job out of University. - Free Swag - WFH Fridays - Smart and helpful colleagues

Svantaggi

- Incredibly stressful, do NOT take this job if you do not have a high stress tolerance. - A ton of competing priorities that almost always require quick/immediate action. - You get a ton of emails and are expected to be able to pull up and reference any of them at a moments notice. - Constant whiplash between doing deep, focused work (presentation/catalogs) that have a ton of details and require your full attention versus quick/rapid fire tasks that you must address immediately. There were days where I was working on one presentation all day and couldn't get it done because of how much I was getting pinged to resolve other issues. - To get promoted you must essentially do the job of 2 people (CSC and PSA). Beyond that, there is no real career progression unless you want to go into sales. - Management always says to raise your hand if you need help. But when you ask for help, there is always pushback in the form of others having more task hours than you. - CEO took away one of the WFH days. When Qualtrics had negative feedback he essentially said "If you don't like it - then leave". He is a "Do as I say, not as I do." type of leader. - Workload and responsibilities are not commiserate to the salary.
