Human resources is only there to protect the company, not the employees. I was treated VERY unfairly by management and human resources, and when they had me so stressed out I said, "Why don't you fire me?" Human resources replied with, "Why should we do it?" To which I said "I quit." Human resources response was, "Can we get that in writing?" Their goal seemed very clear to have me quit so I couldn't collect unemployment. Human resources had no compassion for me or the struggles I had from being overworked due to them laying off 30% of my staff and going through multiple changes. Also, for several years I told my manager I felt I was not being compensated fairly and was told if I didn't like it I could leave. Several years later, I found out I was making $8,000 under the minimum for my salary grade.
