If you're in debt, you cannot spend money because you're always working.
You get some great frequent flyer/driver/hotel points with travel groups because of how often you're on the road.
The shop guys are generally pretty okay. Mark and Chris in shipping are awesome. If they're not there anymore, then they've eliminated their two best employees.

You are always working. Even when you're at home, on the weekend-- you are on call and working. Your weekends are not yours. They are the company's.
The company will charge the customers a premium for your weekend time. You will be comped for your hotel room, travel expenses, and food. You are expected to be at your desk bright and early at 8 AM to answer phone calls and use the computer system from 1979 that the company still employs. Don't know how to use MS DOS? Well, that sure sucks.
Want to ask anyone in the engineering section about something you're unfamiliar with? "How did we do it last time?" " Go get this unrelated thing to get you off my back." "I don't know or care." There's zero support for anyone if you don't know something, and it's extraordinarily frustrating. The turnover rate is so high because the company is so poor about how it treats its employees. Salaries don't reflect the absurd work requirements, and the service engineers were routinely told we were too stupid to do anything but what we were presently doing, in the hopes that it would keep us planted there. And, well-- it kept me planted there for a long time. There's no ability to socialize outside of work, and the only people I could really be friends with were the guys in the department. If they're around, then almost by definition you've just spent 8 hours staring at the ceiling together, waiting for SOMETHING to happen, until you got the inevitable call at 4:45 on a Friday saying that there was a huge issue and someone needed to bet here RIGHT AWAY.
