Lots of protection from HR if your a poor performer. Difficult to get sacked even if you physically threaten or harass people or go to the gym or shopping instead of actually working in the office. So great for useless people as long as you can con enough people to get hired in the first place.

Very top down structure with micromanagement from very top level. Patronage from the top more important than skill. Therefore it is very political. Job is more about sucking up to right people than doing right thing for customers. So talented people end up leaving and incompetent people are put in charge of areas they have no experience in. Department is laughing stock and subject of jokes from business areas. Pay is below average and working hours are stupid. Calls and meetings often scheduled after normal working hours and can go on until 21:00 or 22:00. So-called commitment to work-life balance is a joke. No one believes anything senior management say about caring about work-life. No connection between company values and the actual culture of Marketing Department.
