Micromanagement of things that do not drive performance, but check the boxes so reports look good. There are so many platforms that you have to use that you end up working much harder, not smarter. There are not enough hours in the day between all of the manual tasks and audits to get everything accomplished and there is a huge disconnect from senior leadership about what it takes to successfully manage a property. Lack of support and leadership by fear and intimidation. Decisions are made in a vacuum, and the people impacted by these decisions are not consulted or made aware of until after decisions have been made. It is very difficult to get purchase orders approved, and the purchasing department is equally as bad on the micromanagement front. You have to jump through so many hoops just to do your job. And, operational decisions are made by people who have never operated a property. Very few people in the company have a voice and senior leadership sees no issue skipping over the chain of command.
