Vantaggi

Days off and vacation. The college closes for several reasons during the year. Lots of different types of tech. It's in Boston and close to the T

Svantaggi

You will get paid more elsewhere. You will work with more talented people elsewhere. Turnover in ITOPS is high. Systems team consists of mostly Jr. Admins. Not hard working. Management knows little of what their teams do. They don't and have not used industry best practices. Budgets are low and limiting. Lots of silo's and team members all work on different things. Meetings will take up your (and your teams) time making your team less effective. System admins are mostly ticket jockeys. Telecommute discouraged. The culture often dictates that as soon as you get a worthwhile teammate they will find a way to leave for a place where they are valued, leaving you with all their work and none of their skill. No process adherence or compliance in the few cases where there are processes to follow. Hard work and above average performance is not rewarded. Lazy and low performing team members are not held accountable.

Vantaggi

-helping students -talking about music

Svantaggi

-forced to train the ai bot that will replace you -despite being the top performer on your team and being reassured repeatedly your job is secure, you will get laid off with no explanation or respect -c suite prefers to keep their 500k+ salaries and 80k+ bonuses even if it means laying off 80+ employees who only make 55k -CEO led first layoffs in berklee's entire history, no transparency with any managers, no discussion or anything -CEO used money "saved" from layoffs to give other employees bonuses and buy unnecessary property
