- Inclusive and embraces diversity. - "Fit for Blue" means non-toxic collaborator. - Autonomy to create one's own success. - Great healthcare benefits - Decent pay - Passion for the mission is real, outsiders don't get the full story, you need to sign an NDA before you fully understand the amazing things Blue is doing. The company supports multiple affinity groups and fosters an environment of inclusiveness, with zero tolerance for discrimination. The best I've seen in the 7 companies in total I've worked for in 25 years. The general culture is one of collaboration, everyone is motivated to build that road to Space, and to use that road. My role reaches out across multiple orgs and I see this across the company. The founder is getting more engaged in the company and how it's being run, so the future outlook is very positive. (just need to clean house a bit at the upper levels). Additionally, the company is doing well with catching up on scaling to growth and is evolving from start-up mode to bigger business mode, and the hiring spree reflects this. Now is a good time to get onboard with Blue Origin... things are about take off.

Executive management seems disconnected from today's working world. In a world where over half the professional workforce is remote, and the vast majority are moving to hybrid, the CEO still believes that it's a good idea to spew emissions into the air while spending time to travel to the office, and be distracted half the day by the chatter and noise. He refuses to budge or listen, or be open to the new ways of the world. If it weren't for the founder intervening and managing this we'd all be in the office fulltime right now. The currently publicly known attrition is primarily due to the refusal to let people who can, and should, work remotely in the long-run. Because the company is private owned, and funded by the founder, the bonus structure is sparse. The base pay is good, and benefits really good, so trade-offs.

Leadership is inconsistent and often incompetent, company is very segmentalized and each group operates to different goals and schedules, poor communication with other parts of the company and with leadership. There is an overarching Yes-men mentality amongst leadership, and they often are just aiming to not be the group to be to blame for delays or failures. Personal growth is limited and widely ranges between different groups, there are areas where people see regular raises and promotions, while the majority seems to be told there are freezes or that they will be put in for next cycle. Pay has fallen behind, in the past they used to pay well and above the industry standard, but have not kept pace. Hours can be very long, again dependent on your group, some people may enjoy things like work from home or flexible schedules, but the majority are asked to work long hours and even support roles that could be remote are forced to be on site, despite a lack of space for the number of employees. I moved desks locations and buildings 6 times in 3 years. Re-orgs happen every 6 months, and create significant instability within the company, but rarely bring positive improvements. Good talent is not rewarded, and leaving quickly.
