Vantaggi

The Company as a whole: The culture is different from traditional culture where people are expected to conform. Ideas are taken to heart and there is a compassion to help others do better. If you don't quite fit the job and you feel you are better in another department, the company wants you to be at your best and they will work with you to get you into the position you belong in (it used to be that way, but now it’s changing). Inclusiveness was pretty popular and being able to bring a dog to work was cool too (you wont find either of those on the manufacturing floor). However the weld area (manufacture, weld, and assembly of the rocket) is another story. The Pro's for this area is the tons of Over Time. There is so much overtime it was unreal (but don't be fooled, they do “forced overtime”). The crew is filled with primarily "former military" and they like to keep it that way (maybe that's a Pro for some people), but it was noticeable that it didn't work out for some people because it was common to see that employees and management would belittle and degrade the employee until they conformed to how the other guys wanted them to be (pretty common for most blue collar jobs but its worth noting that management participated in this and if you like this behavior, it might be a Pro for you... you scratch my back and I scratch yours… type of place).

Svantaggi

The Company as a whole I would say lacks flight experience, so if you are looking to work at a company that has a proven track history, they lack that (although some people considered the smaller human-experience rocket as a positive move toward flight track record). Many people didn’t like that the company changed the free snack policy (slightly; they got rid of high-end snacks such as chocolate and brought in oatmeal...but they did change this again). The snack policy is part of the incentive package and some people count it towards money saved on their budget. The parking was HORRIBLE (a few parking garages were being built to solve this problem). On an individual perspective of the direct work area, the manufacturing area… where to begin. The higher level Management is the big problem for the manufacturing plant. Often times the lower management, supervisors, and employees will disagree with things the higher level Managers say and then they get treated irrationally and the behavior can be very unhinged. If the higher level Management doesn't like that you speak your mind, the they lose control of tempers and push to get an employee fired (as was stated before, conform and you will be fine, just make sure you wear your knee pads). The Managers don't have backbones and when they have tried to stand up for the employees, they quickly get knocked down or written up (shhhh, we all know you can't get written up for standing up and expressing an idea, so the higher level Managers find other ways to get the managers written up). So the managers have "conformed" and just don't seem to care about the employees for the most part. The Supervisors are hit or miss. Some are FANTASTIC and really want whats best for the employee and others just want you to CONFORM (and I've seen supervisors arguing amongst themselves because the supervisors that don't agree to conformance get shot down be the rest). The bad supervisors get promoted to better tasks (the unwritten rule is "mess up and move up"). And finally, the other employees are hit or miss... if they like you and you conform, then you get to be part of the club. If you do not conform and basically just disagree with what you are told, they will shun you and push you to the side, have meetings with supervisors and management behind your back, and ultimately make you look bad so that you get remembered when its time to do reviews (the CEO likes to do a "lowest 5% reduction every year"... oh well if everyone is great, the lowest out of all the great people get cut). The new operations management and communication chain they want is unreal… updates every 2 hours! Pass downs to managers, upper management, VP, as well as supervisors. This push to fly is unreal and Management needs thinned out starting at the top.

Vantaggi

4 weeks of PTO, good benefits, free drinks and snacks available at all locations.

Svantaggi

Leadership is inconsistent and often incompetent, company is very segmentalized and each group operates to different goals and schedules, poor communication with other parts of the company and with leadership. There is an overarching Yes-men mentality amongst leadership, and they often are just aiming to not be the group to be to blame for delays or failures. Personal growth is limited and widely ranges between different groups, there are areas where people see regular raises and promotions, while the majority seems to be told there are freezes or that they will be put in for next cycle. Pay has fallen behind, in the past they used to pay well and above the industry standard, but have not kept pace. Hours can be very long, again dependent on your group, some people may enjoy things like work from home or flexible schedules, but the majority are asked to work long hours and even support roles that could be remote are forced to be on site, despite a lack of space for the number of employees. I moved desks locations and buildings 6 times in 3 years. Re-orgs happen every 6 months, and create significant instability within the company, but rarely bring positive improvements. Good talent is not rewarded, and leaving quickly.
